A removalist business on the Gold Coast
A removalist business on the Gold Coast, running Google Search for local residential moves. Small budget, competitive market, one service area.
01
THE CHALLENGE
Removals is a brutal category to advertise in on a small budget.
The searches look similar but they're not. "Removalists Gold Coast" is someone booking a move. "How much does it cost to move a couch" is someone who'll never call you. "Removal" on its own could be a tree, a tttoo, or a car wreck. Broad match will happily spend your entire month on all three.
That's the squeeze on a modest local budget. You don't have room to buy traffic and sort it out later. Every dollar that goes to a vague search is a dollar that didn't reach someone with a truck booking to make. And the account was spreading spend across activity that wasn't producing, so the campaign actually generating calls never got properly fed.
Six leads that month. $58.53 each.
02
OUR STRATEGY
What we did, nothing exotic. Local search fundamentals, done properly.
Added 12 high-intent removal keywords : the ones that mean someone is actually moving house, not researching.
Tightened the match types. More control over who sees the ad, less budget bleeding into loosely related searches.
Rewrote the ads around local trust and Gold Coast relevance. A removalist is someone you let into your house. Sounding local matters more here than it does in most categories.
Moved the budget to the campaign that was working. The Gold Coast Search campaign was already producing calls and quotes. So it got the money.
Tracked calls and quote requests as the scorecard. Not impressions, not clicks. The two things that turn into booked jobs.
